This is a fantastic and rare original watercolor work of art by famed Billings, Montana Crow Native American Indian artist Leland W. Stewart. Stewart is a member of the Crow Nation, Whistling Water Caln and the High Hawk Society. He graduated from the Institute of the American Indian Arts in 1975. The piece shows an image of two Crow Women both wearing wonderfully accented wearing blankets standing in front of two impressive tepees. This piece is on watercolor paper and is framed in a black wooden frame done by a Montana framer with a red matting. Signed lower right by Leland W. Stewart and dated 2015 with his typical smoking pipe accenting the signature. The frame measures 27" by 21". Many of Stewart’s works can be found at the Sam Terakedis Fine Art & Jewelry Gallery with some examples being priced at $6,200 for Two Sisters in the Bear Paws, $5,500 for Uncle Buffalo, and $6,000 for The Visitor with this example for sale being very similar in size and composure. The visible artwork area measures 19” inches by 11 5/8” inches. This is truly an extraordinary and fine work of American Indian heritage art.
