For your consideration is this original pencil sketching of a Native American watering his horse at the edge of a river. In the distance are some rolling hills. The Native American is in traditional dress, wearing a full feathered headdress. He is standing next to his horse with his right hand on the horse's back and his left holding rope reins. He is standing in left profile and looking to the left. The horse is drinking with its muzzle in the water and has a wool blanket on its back. The consignor of this piece discovered it in Pray, MT, Paradise Valley. The river in the sketching could well be the Yellowstone River. The unsigned sketch is pencil on paper and is framed in a simple black wood frame. The sketch and frame appear to be early 20th Century. It measures 15.75" x 20.75". The sketch has some damp staining, but is in otherwise good condition.
