Featured in this lot is an Ornate Hand Made, Hand Tooled Leather Rifle Scabbard, circa 1950s-1960s, partial manufacturer's stamps "Cabbard" and "Cabbaderro" with model numbers 4525, 4526, 4527 on base . The beautiful carving of the leather is done in the folk style of old Southwest Spanish art. Floral motifs mixed with ornate designs adorn the sides of the case. The intricate patterns of the tooling are deep and consistent. Masterfully carved. Adjustable leather straps with buckles are held in place by leather strips which are riveted onto the front and back. The buckles and the rivets are brass. Heavy duty white stitching along the top and the bottom sides. This leather rifle scabbard is beautiful as well as functional. Truly evokes memories of the old west.
The leather is in good condition, minimal scuffing consistent with age and normal use. Measures 7.5"W at the mouth, 3" x 2.5" base, 34.25"L from widest mouth edge, 32.25"L from narrow edge of mouth.
