Offered in this lot are an Original Orrefors Pedestal Bowl by Eva Englund and Arne Lindell, circa 1980s, Sweden, and a vintage Fostoria Floral Silver Overlay Compote Dish, circa 1930s-1950s.
The Fostoria Glass Company was a manufacturer of pressed, blown and hand-molded glassware and tableware from 1887 to 1986. Fostoria was considered one of the top producers of elegant glass, at one time having over 1,000 patterns, including one (American) that was produced for over 75 years. Fostoria products were made for several U. S. presidents.
Orrefors, a glassworks company in the Swedish village of Orrefors, manufactured crystal glassware and art glass from 1898 to 2012. The glass house came to be a leading producer during the interwar period (1918 to 1939). Items consisted of crystal stemware, barware, vases, and sculptures and lighting products in crystal.
The Orrefors eight-sided Pedestal Bowl was hand decorated by noted designer Eva Englund and talented artist Arne Lindell in the Maja floral pattern, their initials are painted on a side panel, "E.E. A.L.". Pedestal base has Orrefors name tag. The Fostoria Silver Overlay Clear Compote Dish features a grape leaves, vines and clusters pattern, stem in a floral design with both mouth and foot rims overlaid in silver.
Both pieces are in very nice condition, no marring noted. Orrefors Pedestal bowl measures 7"H, 7" mouth, 4.75" base. Fostoria Compote Dish is 4.5"H, 5.5" mouth, 3.75" base. Combined weight is 2lb, 8oz.
