Featured in this lot is this pair of Oscar Crockett (born 1887 and passed in 1949) cowboy spurs, circa 1920's. These spurs feature a wonderfully and professionally crafted pair of spurs identified by the maker’s mark on the underside of the spur frame. In 1920, Crockett bought Shipley’s bit and spur making department and started the Crockett Bit and Spur Company. Crockett produced a wide array of styles and published catalogs to advertise them. If there was a popular style cowboys were looking for, Crockett made sure he could sell it to them. Since then, these pieces have become highly collectible. The condition of this pair of spurs is good, with wear and oxidation consistent with age and exposure. The measurements of this pair of spurs are 1 3/4" x 6 3/4" x 4" from tip of spur strap to the tip of the rowel.
