Featured in this lot is this First Edition of "Outdoor Life and Indian Stories" by, Edward S. Ellis, 1912, Wilmore Book & Bible Co., Chicago, Ill. publisher. A collection of essays and anecdotes, offering basic instructions to making a camp, get pure water, making a bow and arrow, how to read signs and signals, what to do in case of an accident, all drawing on the practices of Native Americans. These chapters are followed by chapters giving the history of Native Americans, including Powhatan, Pontiac, Red Jacket, Little Turtle, Sitting Bull and others. Edward S. Ellis (1840-1916), was a prolific American author of hundreds of books and magazine articles perhaps best known internationally for his "Deerfoot" novels read widely by young boys until the 1950s. The condition of this book is preserved with some wear to the outside cloth wrapped cover and shows some browning to the pages consistent with age but otherwise shows a preserved condition.
