Featured in this lot is this Papago Tohono O'odham pictorial bear grass or Yucca basket circa 1950's. The basket features a wonderfully and professionally crafted bear grass construction that shows a tight weft to the weaving and shows figural pictorial decoration to the inside and outside walling of the basket. The Tohono O'odham or Papago are a Native American people of the Sonoran Desert, residing primarily in the U.S. state of Arizona and the northern Mexican state of Sonora. The federally recognized tribe is known in the United States as the Tohono O'odham Nation. The condition of this basket is good with no obvious signs of damage and shows good overall condition. The measurements of this basket is 3 1/4" x 14" x 14".
