The board is a single piece from a produce or merchandise crate and is marked as follows: Paul B. Warnekross - Tombstone A.T. Paul B. Warnekros was a notable early businessman in Tombstone, Arizona Territory, whose ventures reflected the diverse opportunities of a booming mining town. He operated a central merchandise business dealing in groceries and liquors, supplied freight and mining goods to nearby districts, and secured contracts such as providing barley to Fort Huachuca. Warnekros also practiced dentistry on Fremont Street, adding a professional dimension to his career, and invested in mining through ownership of claims like the Mystery Mine. His prominence was further marked by the “Warnekros building” on Allen Street, a landmark of Tombstone’s commercial district. The condition of this board is well preserved with some wear to it consistent with age and exposure but otherwise shows a well preserved condition.
