Featured in this lot is an original Paul Frankl Two-Tiered Stacked Rattan Side Table with Mahogany Tops, circa 1930. Vintage rattan end tables by famed designer Paul Frankl. This iconic design draws elements from Art Deco and mid-century modern aesthetics. The gracefully contoured forms are signature Art Deco while the simplicity of design and focus on fine materials are philosophies borrowed from Modernism. The two-tier design features rattan base and Mahogany table tops. Frankl, an Art Deco furniture designer and maker, architect, painter and writer, began as an architect and later switched to designing and painting fine art and furniture. In the years between the two world wars he, more than any other designer, helped shape the distinctive look of American modernism. His style continuously evolved, from early skyscraper furniture to relaxed and casual designs favored by the Hollywood elite in the 1930s, his Beverly Hills gallery on Rodeo Drive listing Fred Astaire, Cary Grant, Katharine Hepburn, Walter Huston and Alfred Hitchcock amongst the many of his who's who clientele. The table is in very good condition, with some scratches and water stains on tops, no other marring noted. Measures 32.5"L x 15.5"W x 19.75"H
