Featured in this lot are two, original oil on board Pacific seascape paintings done by Montana artist Paul Krapf in the 1960s to 1980s. Paul Krapf (1927-2019) was a wildlife and landscape artist from Gardiner, Montana at the southern end of the beautiful Paradise Valley north of majestic Yellowstone National Park. His house and studio were built along the Yellowstone River 11 miles north of the park. The inhabitants of Yellowstone National Park were his frequent subjects. He also produced coastal views, especially Oregon’s, as well as Western scenes and landscapes. The first in this lot shows a cliff side on the shore as waves crash into it and pull back over the rocks. A bright, slightly cloudy sky shines over the sea and onto the rock faces. The piece is signed in the bottom right hand corner in brown paint reading, "Krapf". The second piece shows a similar scene, possibly near the location of the first considering the similar rock formation and style. This piece shows a large wave in the center of the painting crashing into the foamy ocean as smaller waves slam into the sharp, jagged rocks on the side and foreground of the piece. Dark clouds hang overhead and rain can be seen in the background in the top left corner. It is signed in the bottom left hand corner reading, "© Krapf 1974". Both pieces show good condition overall with little to no wear present and no signs of damage noted. The smaller piece measures 21 3/4" L x 30" W, while the larger one measures 24" L x 36" W. They have a collective weight of 7 pounds.
