For your consideration is this very cool piece of Collegiate Football history, a cap owned by 1941 USC Trojan football player Paul Taylor. Paul Taylor enjoyed a four year stint playing for the Trojans at USC (1940-1944). He played the "back" position, a position where the player lines up behind the linemen. Back also was a sole position in the one-platoon system era in the game of football. Paul Taylor was drafted to the NFL by the Chicago Bears in 1944 in the 20th round as pick number 205. No stats are available for his NFL career. This cap shows a cloth construction with colors of red and yellow, USC Trojan team colors. It has been written on by Paul Taylor around the outside of the cap reading, "Taylor Year - 1941" along with him writing the scores of games he played in, reads as follows: "Stanford 0-13 / Notre Dame 18-20 / Washington University 13-14 / UCLA 7-7 / Oregon State 13-7 / Ohio State 0-33 / Oregon University 6-20 / Washington State 7-6 / California University 0-14". The 1941 USC Trojan football season consisted of two wins, a tie and six losses. The cap shows good condition overall with little to no wear present despite its age and use over the years. The hat has a diameter of 7 1/4" and a height of 4".
