Featured in this lot is this Persian Gabbeh wool runner rug. The circulation of Persian Gabbeh rugs from Iran into the Western market is relatively new. These rugs were being woven in Persia in the 1500's but were unheard of until fifty years ago. The rug shows a plush wool construction with two animal effigies, two human effigies and two crop effigies in colors of yellow, blue and cream / white set against the dark blue background of the rug. The rug shows good condition overall with little to no wear present and no signs of damage noted. The rug measures 117" L x 31" W and weighs 18 pounds and 12 ounces.
