Featured in this lot is this beautiful, hand knotted Persian Serapi wool runner rug from the early / mid 20th century. The rug features a fine detailed design, bright colors, and a tight weave, circa early / mid 20th century. The Heriz rug is one of the most well-known styles of Persian rugs, known for its unique styles and patterns. Serapis, for example, have been considered the finest grade of Heriz since the beginning of the 20th century. Their name is connected to the Serab village, where they originally came from. The rugs are produced in the city of Heriz, which is located in northwestern Iran near the city of Tabriz. The rug displays wonderfully and professionally handcrafted wool construction and shows geometric floral patterns along the border, with the center of the rug showing three, large geometric medallions. This stunning rug is predominately a cream white color with red, brown, light blue, burnt orange, gray and yellow colors seen throughout the piece. The ends of the rug show white colored fringe. The rug shows good condition overall with little to no wear present and no signs of damage is noted. The rug measures 97" L x 31" W and weighs 15 pounds and 2 ounces.
