Featured in this lot is this hand knotted Persian Serapi wool runner rug. The rug features a fine detailed design, bright colors, and a tight weave, circa early / mid 20th century. The Heriz rug is one of the most well-known styles of Persian rugs, known for its unique styles and patterns. Serapis, for example, have been considered the finest grade of Heriz since the beginning of the 20th century. Their name is connected to the Serab village, where they originally came from. The rugs are produced in the city of Heriz, which is located in northwestern Iran near the city of Tabriz. The rug displays wonderfully and professionally handcrafted wool construction and shows geometric patterns along the border, with the center of the rug showing three geometric medallions. The rug shows colors of red, green, beige, light blue, green, dark blue and brown throughout. The rug shows good condition overall with little to no wear present and no signs of damage is noted. The rug measures 99" L x 30" W and weighs 14 pounds and 2 ounces.
