Featured in this lot is a Persian Tabriz Hand-Knotted Woven Wool Area Rug. The rug features a fine detailed design, bright colors, and a tight weave. A Tabriz rug/carpet is a type in the general category of Persian carpets from the city of Tabriz, the capital city of East Azerbaijan Province northwest of Iran. It is one of the oldest rug weaving centers and makes a huge diversity of types of carpets. Tabriz has one of the most diverse displays of designs from medallion and Herati/Mahi to figural, pictorial, and even 3D shaped rugs. The rug displays predominately warm colors of red, yellow, orange, with some grey and blue. The rug shows fair condition with wear due to age and use. The rug measures 148"L x 111 1/2"W.*
