For your consideration is this rare first edition, two volume set of "The Personal Memoirs of P.H. Sheridan," a 19th Century United States Army General. The book was published by Charles L. Webster & Company New York 1888 and press of Jenkins & McCowan. The set are both rare leather bound first edition, 1888 dated and printed books and includes the complete set with both Volume I & Volume II. Both books have gilded pages and spine label. The books have a vast wealth of information on the Civil War and in specific Sheridan’s insights on the subject. Each volume contains different rare steel engraved portraits of Sheridan as front pieces and several maps of Civil War campaigns, and of the Indian Campaign of 1868-69. The books are in okay condition. The front and back cover of volume 1 are detached, and the inside front includes a penciled signature from 1888 and a labeled marked "From the Library of Dr. B. F. Ederer" - Volume 2 also includes this label, and the back cover is nearly detached. Both covers are worn. Each book is 6.5” x 9.25” x 1 5/8” thick.
