Featured in this lot is the Personal Memoirs of U.S. Grant, Vol 2, 1st Ed, 1885. This is a first edition copy of volume II of “Personal Memoirs of U.S. Grant”, 1885. The piece was published in 1885 by Charles L. Webster & Company, New York. The piece shows green cloth covers with choice, bold, gold stamped lettering and seal. This volume II copy shows a portrait of the more known image of President U.S. Grant. These memoirs were written from the fall of 1884 and were completed four days before his death on July 23, 1885. This book was published by Grant’s friend, Samuel Clemmons (Mark Twain), under the alias of his nephew, Charles L. Webster. This is a wonderful quality book that would be a great match to volume I; it is a must-own for any Civil War enthusiast. The cover shows damage at the top of the spine; regardless, this is a very rare and desirable, well-preserved book. This book measures 6.5" W x 9 3/8" H and is 1.75" thick.
