Offered in this lot is an 1896 first edition printing of "Personal Recollections and Observations of General Nelson A. Miles" with illustrations from Frederic Remington. General Nelson A. Miles served his country with distinction for forty-two years. During the Civil War, he fought in many important battles of the Army of the Potomac, and by the end of the war was made the rank of major general of volunteers. In 1869, Miles was transferred to the West, where he achieved his greatest fame fighting against the American Indians. This memoir is filled with historical figures and illustrated by Frederic Remington. The book is in good condition, with wear on the corners of the binding and edges as expected. The book measures 10" x 7 3/4".
