For your consideration is this Philip R. Goodwin limited edition bronze sculpture of a lynx titled, "Lynx". Philip Russell Goodwin's natural born talent for illustration became evident very early on and by age eleven he had already sold works to Collier's magazine. Goodwin studied under Howard Pyle at the Drexel Institute in Philadelphia from 1899-1900. He agreed to his master's belief that an artist should spend time in the environment which he is illustrating. Goodwin also studied at the Rhode Island School of Design and the Art Students League in New York. Goodwin's illustrations were published in magazines such as Harper's Monthly and Harper's Weekly, Scribner's and celebrated books such as "Call of the Wild" by Jack London and "African Game Trails" by Theodore Roosevelt. The bronze shows a lynx on a small broken tree branch starring ahead. The bronze sits on a marble base with green felt underneath it and a gold colored metal tag on the front reading, "Lynx, A limited edition, Philip R. Goodwin". On the longest part of the branch it is signed "Goodwin". The statue is in good condition and has been repaired. It measures 6" L x 4 1/2" W x 4 1/4" H.
