Offered in this lot is a collection of three different types of baskets from three different tribes, Pima, Seminole, and Salish, circa 1950's. The first basket is a flat oval Pima style basket. The basket shows a nice oval size with medium height side walls. The Pima people, also referred to as the Akimel O’odham, Akimel O’otham, or “River People”, have a rich history of basketry that dates back to the 17th Century. The basket shows a nice, very tight weave and is in very good, well-preserved condition. The basket measures 12" x 8 1/2" x 1 1/4". The next basket is a handle basket in the style of the Seminole. This small basket is 6" x 6" with 2" sides and a 6 1/2" tall handle. The last basket is in the Salish style. This is a coil pine needle basket with polychrome colors of pink, green, and purple. This basket is round and measures 10" across. This basket has some damage due to age and use.
