The piece shows a carved wood bow from the Plains Native American Indians dating to the mid-to-late 19th Century. The piece shows a hand stripped and carved wood bow with expertly carved notches and recurved pattern. The piece has a nicely curved outer edge and flat inside edge, typical of bows of the era. This is a usable bow with little decoration, likely for hunting or possibly worn away with age. The piece has dings and scratches from honest use with no major damage. Provenance: From a historic Eastern Montana American Indian Collection, where the piece was found to be an authentic original, one of the finest collections of American Indian weaponry and antiquities in Montana. Measures 49.5”L end to end and is about 1.25” by 1/2” thick.
