Featured in this lot are Vintage Plains Embroidered Fringed Leather Gauntlet Gloves, circa 1950s-1970s. These embroidered tanned leather gauntlet gloves feature embroidered symbols reminiscient of the Northern Plains peoples such as the Cree, Oglala Lakota and Crow. Adorned with decorative detailing, believing these details had symbolic meanings, such as protecting people from harm. Eastern woodland designs are often floral, while those of the Plains lean towards geometry. The gloves are lined in the cuff area, were most likely used during ceremonial events, that often feature singing, dancing, honoring ceremonies. The gauntlet gloves are in nice condition, exhibit normal wear, stitching appears tight, colours do not exhibit fading or bleeding. Measure 6"W at mouth x 13"L, approximately men's size Large.
