Offered in this lot is a Plains Indians Beaded Trade Collection, circa 1970s. Included is a sunburst seed bead pendant medallion necklace, backed by brain tanned leather, measures 19.5"L. Second item is a Navajo seed bead dancer fetish pendant necklace, measures 13"L. The third is a seed bead key chain, with seed bead fringe, measures 5.5"L. Lastly is a pair of handcrafted beaded infant leather moccasins. The moccasins are joined at the heels and can be displayed as a beautiful work of art, featuring colours of black, white, red, turquoise and blue seed beads, measure 4.5"L. When trade beads were introduced to Native Americans, they made these colorful glass beads part of their jewelry. Native American beadwork holds a fascinating and profound history that dates back to the arrival of European traders in the 16th century. Each tribe has developed its distinctive style and techniques, resulting in a diverse tapestry of beadwork traditions. Colours used include chalk white, corn yellow, red, medium blue, turquoise blue, pumpkin orange, black.
