The lot features a Pre-Columbian figural pottery vessel attributed to the Mayan culture of Belize and dating to circa 500 A.D. The pottery vessel shows the figural effigy design of a human male bust and shows the original early red pigment on the exterior. The vessel shows a hole in the top of the head, that is still intact, and was most likely used as a water vessel. The piece is from the Clem Caldwell collection and is truly a fascinating relic. Measures overall 5.25óH x 3.75óW. The piece shows the original condition and finish as when it was excavated and is truly a fine piece.
