The lot features a pre-historic Neolithic strand of carved and polished shell beads from the Cahokia Mound builder Mississippian culture dating to circa 1050-1350 CE. The strand was found on a private property not far from the Cahokia Mound. The beads, which show a rich white / cream color and excellent shape, have been since modernly re-strung for display. Truly a wonderful set. Each bead is hand made and range in size, but are all approximately 3/4" diameter. The strand has a circumference of 37".
