Featured in this lot is a princess cut tanzanite, diamond, and 14k white gold necklace. The necklace shows a wonderfully crafted 14k white gold chain and princess cut pendant with a gold weight of 2.43GM. The center stone shows a princess cut tanzanite gemstone with a total weight of 1.56 carats. The center stone is decorated with a halo design of 20 round brilliant cut diamonds with a total weight of 0.17 carats. Tanzanite is a very rare precious gemstone that is only found in the Usumburu Mountains that border the Umba Valley of northern Tanzania. It was originally discovered in 1967 by Tiffany & Company, who named the stone Tanzanite. This example is unique due to its exceptional pleochroism (an optical phenomenon in which a stone has different colors when observed at different angles). The necklace shows a Color Jewel Inc. hallmark on the back of the pendant with a 14k gold stamp to the left of the hallmark. The measurements of this necklace form clasp to clasp are 17 1/2".
