For your consideration in this lot is a wonderful and Rare 1870 First Edition of "An Editor's Tales" by Anthony Trollope. The theme of these six short stories draws on Trollope's three years directing St. Paul's Magazine. "An Editor's Tales" describes a series of encounters between various magazine editors and those who wish to have their works published. While containing some amusing bits, the tales are relatively grim compared to most Trollope stories. Brings together the recollections of a magazine editor. Besieged by ambitious, but frequently untalented writers wishing to contribute to his magazine, he is cajoled, beseeched, urged and begged to publish the unpublishable. Anthony Trollope (1815 – 1882) was an English novelist and civil servant of the Victorian era. Among his best-known works is a series of novels collectively known as the Chronicles of Barsetshire, which revolves around the imaginary county of Barsetshire. Trollope was a prolific writer, but this book in first edition, not as part of a collection, is very hard to find. This book is good overall condition, bound in red leather and linen with gold gilt on the covers and spine, scuffing exhibited on cover edges. Intact gold gilt top edge pages have age tanning and foxing throughout. No other obvious marring noted, measures 5.5"W x 7.75"L x 1.25"D approximately.
