Featured in this lot is an original 1927 $20.00 Liberty Head Double Eagle gold coin. Examples like this were graded from PCGS at MS63; however this coin was not professionally graded. The coin shows Lady Liberty on one side and an eagle in flight on the other with the rim of the coin showing stars along the rim. Depicts Liberty holding a torch and olive branch, backed by the rays of the sun, the U.S. Capitol visible; 46 stars circle design, obverse, an eagle in flight, backed by rays from the sun, reverse. Edge lettered "E PLURIBUS UNUM". There is no mint and shows .900 purity and was originally designed by Augustus Saint-Gaudens (New York/New Hampshire/Massachusetts/France, 1848-1907). The overall condition of this Liberty Head Double Eagle gold coin is well preserved with no obvious signs of damage. The measurements of this coin are 1 7/8" x 1 7/8". The collective weight of this coin is 33.4g. Provenance: From a prominent ex-Bozeman private collection who purchased the majority of his collection from Cowan's, Skinner, Bonham's, Morphy's, Sotheby's, March in Montana, North American Auction and other well revered auction houses.*
