Featured in this lot is this rare 3.75 carat tanzanite and diamond, platinum ring with IAS paperwork. The ring shows a stamped platinum custom ladies ring an 'Orianne' hallmark and PT950 stamp. The ring features an oval cut natural tanzanite center stone with a total weight of 3.75 carats and an approximate measurement of 10.4mm x 8.4mm; the tanzanite has a fine blue top, purplish coloration and a fine cut and clarity. The center stone and split shoulders feature a total weight of 0.83 carats of round brilliant cut diamonds and show a G - H coloration and a SI1 - SI2 clarity. Tanzanite is a very rare precious gemstone that is only found in the Usumburu Mountains that border the Umba Valley of northern Tanzania. It was originally discovered in 1967 by Tiffany & Company, who named the stone Tanzanite. This example is unique due to its exceptional pleochroism (an optical phenomenon in which a stone has different colors when observed at different angles). The piece comes complete with IAS (Independent Appraisal Service Gemologists, a GIA certified lab AIG Appraisal Number#: 45821EW) report and appraisal, confirming the above info and giving a total value of $11,590.00. The ring size is US 7.
