For your consideration this lot is a H. L. Judd and Company Rare Art Nouveau Deco Bronze Gilt Big Tusk Elephant Folding Book Rack, circa 1913, "cast metal, empire bronze finish" per 1913 H.L. Judd catalogue. In the early 1910s, J. H. Judd Company began to produce a decorative art metal line of fine-quality sand castings in iron, brass and bronze. Among these items were bookends and book racks, which were produced between 1910 and the late 1930s. Finely cast in high relief and openwork in Art Nouveau style, the ends representing the profile of an African elephant with its trunk wrapped around its tusk. This book rack is in good overall condition, consistent rich patina throughout, no obvious damages noted. Book rack folds flat. One round headed screw has been replaced by a flat headed screw on base.
