This is a beautiful 19th century American Presentation bone and silver pewter inlaid dag knife with beaded sheath from the Blackfoot. The knife shows a forged-iron classic dag knife partner with double edge and raised median ridge running down the center. The knife has a buffalo bone carved handle with deep yellow patina from honest age and use and is further adorned with silver pewter inlaid designs at the bottom showing a zig-zag and sawtooth triangle design on both sides. The knife is paired with an Indian buffalo brain tanned hide sheath with classic dag knife “V” shape. It has old red stroud clothe, hawk trade bells and old trade clothe with typical Blackfoot / Blackfeet stepped pattern of beadwork done in antique glass trade seed beads with colors of chalk white, cobalt, greasy yellow, medium green and Cheyenne pink. The sheath displays very well and is well kept, likely a later addition. Knife measures 12-inches long and the sheath is 10.5-inches long. Previously valued at $5,000 on the high side.
