Featured in this lot is a Rare C. S. Fly Boudoir Card of Grand Central Mine Hoisting Works Tombstone, Arizona Territory, circa 1880 to 1886. Provenance: Tombstone Western Heritage Museum, Tombstone, Arizona. The boudoir card shows the Grand Central Mine hoisting works, the office and assorted other buildings as well as some of the mine tailings mounds. The Tombstone Grand Central Mine was a major silver mine in the Tombstone mining district that operated in the 1880s, featuring a large mill and significant ore production. The mine's hoist and pumping plant were destroyed by a fire in 1886, leading to its eventual bankruptcy and closure. The mine was supported by the Grand Central Mill, the largest mill on the San Pedro River, equipped with 30 large stamps for crushing ore. The boudoir card reverse has the ink-stamped ribbon shaped studio logo, "FLY'S GALLERY TOMBSTONE, A. T.", as well as handwritten in ink, "Grand Central Hoisting works and office". A Tombstone Western Heritage Museum label on the face of the clear protective plastic sleeve reads, "Fly photo - GRAND CENTAL HOISTING WORKS & OFFICE on hill behind Tombstone", museum code, "P0110". The boudoir card exhibits age tanning, foxing, staining and scuffing on edges. 5.25"W 8.5"L, sleeve is 6.375"W x 9.25"L. Weight is U6.
