Presented in this lot is the Rare First Edition of "Currier and Ives' America", 1952, edited by Colin Simkin, Crown Publishers, Inc., New York. "Currier and Ives' America A Panorama Of The Mid-Nineteenth Century Scene Eighty Prints In Full Color With An Introduction And Commentary By The Editor" used colour plates made from the Travelers collection, most of which were originally used in the publication of of their annual calendars. Extended commentary on the prints included commentary of the times the prints portray. A beautifully illustrated edition of Currier and Ives' depictions of 19th century America. This coffee table blue cloth bound gold gilt titling hardcover is in nice condition, scuffing noted on covers. Intact pages exhibit age tanning and foxing. Original illustrated paper dust jacket exhibits scuffing and slight tears. Measures 12 12"W x 16"L x .75"D, weight 3lb, 12oz.
