For your consideration in this lot is a highly sought Gerald Thurston mid 20th century desk lamp. Gerald Thurston was considered the most innovative American lighting designers of the postwar era. He became famous for his lamps and lighting fixtures, which exemplified the streamlined forms and sleek materials of the mid 20th century. His work with the Lightolier Company during the 1950s and 1960s resulted in some of his most iconic lamps. Gerald Thurston's lamps are highly sought by collectors today. This lamp has an open crescent base with a brass neck holding a white porcelain shade. The diffuser has been replaced. Their is patina on the brass and a few slight paint chips, but overall this lamp is in good condition and working order and shows the striking design that Thurston was famous for. The lamp is 16" tall, the shade is 15" across and the cord is 66" long.
