Featured in this lot is a Rare 1893 edition of "The Union Pictorial Primer" by Charles W. Sanders, copyright by his widow Elizabeth B. Sanders after his death, American Book Company publisher. This work was designed as an introduction to Sander's "Union Series" of Readers and Spellers. The plan of the book is similar to that of Sander's "Pictorial Primer", a work which has been more extensively used in the schools of this country than any other of the kind ever published. Charles W. Sanders (1805-1889) was a teacher and prolific author of several well-known series of children’s textbooks which bear his name. These include readers, spellers, primers, and grammars designed for both the primary and secondary grades. Sanders’ books became the standard and were adopted in all of New York State’s public schools. His textbooks were also published widely overseas. The blue pictorial paper covered boards and red cloth bound spine are in fair condition, fading, soiling and scuffing exhibited. Intact illustrated pages exhibit age tanning and foxing. Measures 4.75"W x 7"L.
