For your consideration is a rare caliber early second year production Remington Model 760 Gamemaster pump action rifle in limited production .35 Remington caliber. This model was introduced in 1952 and has serial number 68846 with a manufacture code of “B ZZ” indicating a manufacture date of January 1953. The Model 760 is known as perhaps the finest pump action center fire rifle ever manufactured. It was produced in the largest numbers in calibers .270 Winchester and .30-06. In later years of production, it was produced in .243 Winchester, .308 Winchester and other popular cartridges. The .35 Remington chambering was offered in very limited quantities in only the first several years of manufacture. Known for being a very powerful and effective “brush” cartridge, the .35 Remington caliber is still popular today in specialized custom single shot handguns and in the iconic Marlin lever action rifles. This earliest of production rifles shows fine blue overall with only normal light wear and scuffing yet retaining excellent markings on the barrel and receiver. It also has the desirable early style forend or “pump” which is in excellent condition as is the pistol grip stock. The action is tight, the bore bright and minty, and the flat top buckhorn rear sight with elevator bar is intact. The front sight is a Lyman marked red bead fitted in the original ramp. The detachable box magazine is the original and is stamped “.35 REM.” Additionally, this fine rifle is fitted with period Weaver scope rings and base as well as correct sling swivel studs. This is a seldom seen extremely early variation of the famed Gamemaster Model 760 Remington. This firearm qualifies as a Curio & Relic, and requires FFL Transfer or NICS Background Check.
