This is an unusual original The Return of Tarzan book by Edgar Rice Burroughs with decorations by J. Allen St. John copyright / publish by A.C. McClurg & Co. Chicago 1915 first edition book with publishing also by Grosset & Dunlap New York. The title copyright publishers page (reverse of the title page) is marked, "Copyright A. C. Clurg & Co. 1915 / Published March 1915 / Copyright in Great Britian" This edition is scarce in that it has the red hardcover binding with indented black lettering with the title page being marked "Grosset & Dunlap Publishers New York Made in the United States of America". Unlike other first editions that have a gilt lettered green hard cover and A.C. McClurg at the title page and also unlike later printings with Grosset & Dunlap which are marked 1917. The book is likely the first edition by the Grosset & Dunlap publishing house. The book is very well kept with tight pindings, clean pages and nicely kept cover. There are signs of its over 100 year old age with ink smears on the cover, very slight possibly from libary use but not library stamp on the inside and every so slight curve to the front cover. Measures 7.5" x 5.25" x 1.25".
