For your consideration is an original, signed oil on canvas by contemporary California artist, Richard Headley, 1993. Richard Headley (1927-2008), was a sea captain and the last Santa Barbara (CA) sealer before the passage of the Marine Mammal Act in 1972. Prior to capturing and selling seals to zoos, Headley served in the merchant marines during WWII and in the army during the Korean War. He later became an accomplished portrait artist. In this painting titled "Shaman's Vision" he depicts two Indian warriors wrestling with a portrait of the Shaman watching over them from the top left corner. This piece shows detailed brush strokes and bright earth tone colors providing excellent composition for this painting. It is signed and dated, "R. Headley 1993" at the bottom right, and "Richard S. Headley, April 13, 1993, 'Shaman's Vision' Dance to the Death" on the back of the canvas. It measures approximately 34.5"L x 41"W
