For your consideration is a c. 1885-89 signed cabinet card of Richard J. Oglesby bearing his original hand written signature, former 3-term Governor, one-term US Senator and Major General from Illinois, printed by the W. F. Core Co. of Lincoln, Illinois.
Oglesby was the first man in Illinois history to serve three terms as governor. The cabinet card was a style of photograph which was widely used for photographic portraiture after 1870. It consisted of a thin photograph mounted on a card typically measuring 4.25"W x 6.5"L, used during the 1880s. The signature is done by hand from Richard Oglesby in fountain pen ink. Card is in good condition with foxing noted mainly on front face, no other marring noted.
