Included in this lot for auction is a RARE and early piece of Butte, Montana history, in the form of a Richard P. Hoenck trolley cart advertisement. The piece depicts a regal woman, boasting her gorgeous furs. To the right of the woman, the sign reads; "Spring and Summer - FURS - Repairing, Remodeling, Storage and Relining - Richard P. Hoenck - Butte's Furrier - 206 North Main St. - Just above Granite". Richard Hoenck was born in St. Paul, Minnesota and started learning the furrier's craft as a young teenager. Later Hoenck would travel to Fargo, North Dakota where he worked as a designer for his brother. It was in 1915 Hoenck would travel to Butte, and secure a position working for Mr. Rouli whom owned the business at 206 North Main Street. In 1917, Richard purchased the business and soon became not only the most prominent furrier in the state, but also fortified himself as one of the states most well known business men. The sign is additionally marked "Bessette-Stork CO." along the bottom edge. This excellent sign is professionally framed with deep black wood, and is matted by a rich brown board. The sign is constructed of fiberboard or cardboard, and shows very-good condition for age, showing only slight staining, and a subtle crease in the bottom right hand corner. The sign measures 19" wide, and 9 3/4" tall. The frame measures 25 5/8" wide, and 16 3/8" tall.
