For your consideration is this original Robert Freeman (1939-2019) drawing titled "Simon's Thoughts" done in late 20th / early 21st century. Robert Freeman was born on the Rincon Indian Reservation in 1939. He is Hunkpapa and Yanktonai, Sioux from South Dakota, and Luiseno from the Rincon Reservation in California. His first ten years of life were spent in Rincon, Res., Vallejo, California (Bay Area), and summers on the Crow Creek Sioux Reservation in South Dakota. At the age of 11, his mother relocated to Escondido, where he grew up and graduated from high school. He later taught painting at Palomar College. In 1967, Robert Freeman made the decision to become a professional artist. In the late 1970s, he was on his way to a successful career, with exhibitions across the United States, including Alaska and Hawaii. By the 1980s and 1990s, Freeman had won over 200 art honors and established himself as a seasoned international artist, with exhibitions in Mexico, Canada, Germany, Japan, Senegal, West Africa, and the Vatican in Rome. This drawing shows a Native American man smoking a cigarette as he looks into the distance seeming to ponder on life. It is signed on a small piece of paper glued to the front reading, "Robert Freeman" in black ink. Taped to the back is a small piece of paper showing the title of the drawing, "Simon's Thoughts". The piece is set in a wood and felt frame and sits behind glass to preserve its condition. It shows good condition overall with no wear or damage present on the drawing and little to no wear present on the frame. The visible art measures 11 1/2" L x 8 1/2" W, while the entire piece measures 15 1/4" L x 12 1/4" W x 1 1/8" D. It has a total weight of 1 pound and 12 ounces.
