Featured in this lot is this original oil on canvas, done by American artist Robert Dexter Coe (1903-1987) titled, "Pilot Aboard" in the late 1960s / early 1970s. Robert Dexter Coe, 1903–1987 Born in Hudson Falls, New York, Robert Dexter Coe attended the National Academy of Design and the Art Students League of New York. He also studied with Thomas Hart Benton, an American regionalist. He relocated to Seattle in the 1940s and worked as an artist for a number of companies, including the Seattle Times. He was a part of the Puget Sound Group of Northwest Painters and had a two-person exhibition at the Frye Art Museum in 1974. This original oil on canvas shows a large boat, possibly a cargo ship, sailing through open waters. In the background, another boat can be seen and a faint city skyline can be seen as well. It is signed in the bottom right hand corner in white and reads, "R. Coe". The painting shows good condition overall with little to no wear present and no signs of damage noted. The visible art measures 21 5/8" L x 29 3/8" W, while the entire piece measures 28" L x 36" W x 1 1/2" D. It has a total weight of 6 pounds and 10 ounces.
