Featured in this lot is a bronze sculpture called "Gentle Giant III" by Idaho artist, Robert Deurloo, who was born in 1945. The sculpture features a wonderfully and professionally crafted bronze construction which features a beautifully crafted, unique delivery of patina that makes this giraffe look life-like. The beautiful texturing to the spider webbing makes up the shading of the giraffe's spots and shows gilt decoration to the tips of the horns. The artist's signature can be seen on the inside of the back right leg along with the numbering of 16/50. Robert Deurloo only makes 100 of each piece of artwork and usually a larger and smaller example. This piece was originally bought for $15,000.00 and was acquired in 2017. Robert Deurloo is a professional sculptor who creates exquisite bronze wildlife sculptures, and due to an exotic patina process, they appear to be of polished stone. His sculptures are cast from molten bronze, but due to an elaborate and exotic patina process, they appear to be chiseled from the granite of the Sawtooth Mountains. A combination of intense heat and various acids and minerals produce the polished stone patinas. A self-taught artist, his style blossoms from within, rather than forged by external teachings. He has learned over his 25 year career that capturing every detail in a sculpture can actually detract from the impact of the piece. The condition of this bronze is good with no obvious signs of damage and shows good overall condition. The measurements of this bronze giraffe are 35 1/4" x 19 1/4" x 6 1/2".*
