Featured in this Robert Wood (1889-1979) original lone fisherman oil-on-board, circa 1915. This is a beautiful original oil-on-board depicting a lone fisherman on a lake with a wonderful scenic view of the rest of the lake. Robert Wood was born in England in 1889 and emigrated to the United States in 1910 after serving in the Royal Army. He is a celebrated painter of realistic landscapes reflecting a vanishing wilderness in America. He traveled extensively all over the United States, especially in the West. For several decades, Wood was America's best-known landscape painter and was represented at galleries that specialized in historic American art. This painting is stamped on the back with the artist's Portland, Oregon studio address. The condition of this framed oil-on-board is good, with slight wear to the painting and to the frame. The measurements of this framed oil-on-board are 8 1/2" x 20 1/2" and the visible art measures 6 1/2" x 18 1/2".
