For your consideration is this collection of 33 stereoview cards of Salt Lake City, Utah circa 1890-1910. In Salt Lake City, Utah, the Rocky Mountain Curio Company created stereoview cards in the late 19th century. In the late 1800s and early 1900s, stereoview cards were a popular way to view 3D images. They were made by mounting two identical but slightly different photographs side by side on a card. The images would appear to be three-dimensional when viewed through a stereoscope. The Rocky Mountain Curio Company was an expert in creating stereoview cards of beautiful scenes from the American West, particularly the Rocky Mountains and surrounding regions. Their cards frequently featured pictures of Utah, Yellowstone National Park, and other well-known western landscapes. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the cards were a popular memento for tourists and travelers. The stereoview cards feature locations in and around Salt Lake City, Utah such as: Temple Block, the Brigham Young Monument, the Great Murray Smelters, the Wasatch Mountains from Liberty Park, the grave of Brigham Young, the Saltair Pleasure Resort, Lagoon Pleasure Resort, a view on Main Street, Interior of the Tabernacle, the Dancing Pavilion in Saltair and many more. This collection is numbered 151 to 175 but has duplicates. The cards come in the original box but the box only has the top half. The box is red and reads, "Salt Lake City Views No. 151 to No. 175" in black lettering. On the underside of the box it tells the viewer on how nest to view the stereoview cards. The stereoviews show good condition with some slight wear from their antique age but no obvious signs of damage are noted on the cards. The cards measure 3 7/16" L x 6 15/16" W.
