Featured in this lot is this framed original oil on board by Washington artist Russell Frost born in 1927 and died in 1996. The artwork features a wonderfully and professionally crafted oil on board construction that shows an opulent wooden frame with gold gilt painted coloration and shows a scene of a cliff fisherman staring out at the surf with a woman and a child in tow, the sky is depicted as stormy and the painting makes you feel as if the conditions are windy. The artist signature is shown in the bottom left hand corner. Russell W. Frost (1927-1996), Frost served in the Army infantry in World War II, apprenticing briefly to a combat artist. Then he studied at Burnley School of Art in Seattle, and at Cornish Institute, where he met his wife, Betty Frost. They married in 1949 and became a team, living in picturesque settings around Puget Sound. He built many of the cabins. He also built boats. Mainly he painted. He often had a dozen canvases going, and frequently sold them to pay the light bill or to buy materials for his next piece. The condition of this of this framed oil on board is well preserved with no obvious signs of damage and shows a well preserved overall condition. The measurements of this framed oil on board is 32" x 43 5/8" and the visible artwork measures 23 3/8" x 35 3/8". The collective weight of this framed oil on board is 19lb 12oz.
