Featured in this lot is this Santo Domingo, polychrome Zia pottery vessel. The Zia pottery vessel shows a bird figural design with geometric patterns, displaying the polychrome decoration traditionally used in Santo Domingo Zia pottery decorations, with a slight texture to the outside wall of the pot itself. Kewa Pueblo was formerly known as Santo Domingo Pueblo. The population of the pueblo is composed of Native Americans who speak Keres, an eastern dialect of the Keresan languages. Like several other pueblo peoples, they have a matrilineal kinship system. The condition of this pottery vessel is good, with no obvious signs of damage. It measures 4" x 5 1/2" x 5 1/2". (30051)
