Included in this lot is a Scapula Bone Art Bison Painting, signed by Elaine McClurg from 1953. A remarkable American folk art painting of an adult Bison standing on a prairie .
Wonderfully executed full of character and charm, exceptionally painted on a buffalo shoulder blade itself. The scapula is fully desiccated naturally, most likely discovered around the Western bison rangelands. The oil painting has muted pastel-like coloursthe bison's legs look sinewy depicting the strength the massive animals are known for, some reaching up to 2,000 pounds in weight and standing 6' tall.
The scapula is in good condition, no marring or damages noted, measures 12"L x 8"W x 4"D
