For your consideration are seven Schmid Bavarian porcelain Mother's Day collectors plates circa 1980 to 1991. Schmid Mother's Day collector plates are part of the Hummel line of porcelain plates, which were made in Germany from 1970 to 1999. The plates are made in the United States and feature the art of Sister Berta Hummel. Maria Innocentia Hummel OSF (Born Berta Hummel) was a German religious sister of the Third Order of St. Francis and an artist. She is noted for her paintings which were the basis for Hummel figurines. She was borin in 1909 and passed away in 1946. The years included are as follows - 1980's Mother's Little Helpers, 1981's Playtime, 1982's The Flower Basket, 1985's A Mother's Journey, 1989's Pretty As A Picture, 1990's Mother's Little Athlete and 1991's Soft And Gentle. Each feature a painting inspired from Hummel's work with the bottom reading, "Mother's Day" and showing the date it was made. The bottoms of the plates show the title, the year it was made for, the limited edition number and a small write up on the history behind the artwork on the plate. This lot features the 20th and last edition of the series, the 1991 Mother's Day collectors plate. The plates come in the original boxes showing a blue color and gold gilt lettering throughout. Six out of the seven plates have the original Certificates of Authenticity housed in their respective boxes. The plates show good condition overall with no wear or damage is present. The boxes show wear from their use and handling over the years. The plates measure a diameter of 7 7/8", while the boxes measure 9 3/4" L x 9 3/4" W x 1 3/16" H. The collection has a collective weight of 7 pounds.
