This is an original work of art oil on canvas by Sheryl Bodily showing the branding a calf by Montana Ranchers. The painting shows a large size and is set in Montana showing five Montana Ranchers one on horseback and two holding down a calf while branding it, and two one the fence watching. It shows various Montana cows in the background, all in the round pen of their ranch, and a saddled horse by the fence. Sheryl Bodily was born in Boise, Idaho in 1936 to a family of five children and was son to a farmer. He recalls moving six separate times as a child for farming work, countless farming chores and having the hobby of collecting arrowheads and artifacts in the Rocky Canyon near Meridian, Idaho. Later he was considered a Montanan being a resident of Columbia Falls, Montana. Bodily has won countless awards and Best of Show with his works being widely collectible. This work comes out of a large Livingston, Montana collection and is signed in the bottom right “BODILY” typical of other works by the artist. This is truly a wonderful masterpiece showing fine detail and telling a wonderful story of the Old West. This example shows a larger size and greater detail than most examples offered by Bodily. Canvas measures 18”x24” and the frame is 26”x32”.
